Born and raised in Utica, NY, Anthony Citrinite started playing the drums at age 10. Moved to NYC at age 18 to study at Drummers Collective and search for a gig. His first brush with success came in 96/97 when his band, The BushPilots, were offered a record deal. Unfortunately, everything came to a screeching halt when the singer and guitar player were both shot on top of the Empire State Building. Although it was difficult for a while, Anthony soon began to search for a new band through bulletin boards and classifieds.
In 1998, he joined Engine Orange who made some noise for over 5 years while producing tracks with Danny Schuler of Biohazard, as well as working under the management of Benny Mardones and Bill McGathy. While playing with EO, Anthony took advantage of other opportunities that presented themselves. In 2001, He went on a short tour with Alice Cooper Tribute Act, Alice's Nightmare, and soon after his return, got the call to play with Legendary rock group, Boston, in front of over 80,000 people at the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona. In late 2002, Anthony played a sub a gig with a band called The Grand Skeem, where he met now fellow bandmate, Vin Alfieri. "The gig was hilarious... it was at an overnight camp for overweight kids... we stumbled through the songs for 20 minutes then signed autographs for 4 hours... and as we were leaving we were getting hit on by the overweight girls looking for our dinner scraps" ..laughs Anthony.
The Smashup was formed soon after and Anthony had the drum chair. Anthony has been a full member of The Smashup for over two years now. Aside from their growing fanbase, the band has attracted the attention of UK label, Mighty Atom Records, and US label, Warcon Records. In August 2005 Ant and the band will embark on an 11 day Canadian Tour and in September 2005 will head out to the UK for a 18 day stint... there are rumors of a 36 stop states tour in October as well. The Smashup is releasing 'Untreatable' on September 4th in the UK (their first major release anywhere) and in the US on September 27th, 'Being and Becoming' will be released.
